Dale May ‘Tahiti – Polynesian Tatau’ Exhibition

The Tattoo Collective are excited to present ‘Tahiti – Polynesian Tatau’, a powerful collection of images by renowned photographer Dale May.

May captured the photographs of these heavily tattooed individuals at the Tahiti Tattoo Convention, resulting in an extraordinary collection of images celebrating the art and culture of traditional Polynesian Tatau.

Of the experience, Dale recalled; ‘these portraits were shot with available light, which consisted of a single halogen lamp and indirect daylight. I was only able to rotate the key light, which was fixed to the ceiling and to change my subjects position to get the angle and light ratio I desired for each portrait. Such a fun challenge and experience, meeting Tahitian Royalty and some amazing tattoo artists’.
